Marvel Rivals executive producer Danny Koo stated in an August interview with Dexerto that the team was more concerned with allowing players to express their ideas and “play as they want” than with locking them into a role.
Role lock is not something we want for players. In their six-player squad, we want them to be creative with their formations and employ the heroes however they see fit,” Koo told Dexerto.
Although this does not imply that Role Queue is no longer a possibility, it does seem that Koo and his group are not giving it any attention.
Is a Role Queue Desired by Marvel Rivals Players?
There is disagreement among Marvel Rivals players on the inclusion of Role Queue, as is the case with every major game system.
Role Queue is the primary method of gameplay in games such as Overwatch 2, as it guarantees that players will assign roles to their team that can balance out a roster. A team in rapid play or ranked modes might consist solely of one role because Marvel Rivals does not use this concept, which would result in far more variables in team makeup and performance.
This implies that in certain games, there won’t be any people interested in playing as healers or that there will be too many players concentrating on becoming DPS heroes in order to finish assignments for the battle pass.
Although an unbalanced squad is a possibility, many players see this as a benefit in Marvel Rivals since it promotes individual liberty and rewards players who put forth the effort to be good teammates.
